How I set the ‘refresh’ button

It’s only Thursday and this week has been hectic! SO close to Friday, I can’t wait!! I have been swamped at work and it’s only going to get busier as the year goes on. And this is a good time for me to hit the ‘refresh’ button, as I’m calling it. Last week, I took the week off from posting on here and on social media. And honestly, I needed it — work was kicking my butt! So it was nice coming home and not stress about ‘keeping up appearances’ on social media.

Finding healthy ways to give yourself a ‘refresh’ moment is so important! The older I get and the more responsibility I take on in life, I recognize the value of the separation of my personal life and work life. To disconnect, sometimes I take a walk, sometimes I re-watch The Office, sometimes I nap and even sometimes, de-stressing includes writing here, for my blog. My favorite has been heading outside with Bailey for a nice long walk and fresh air.

Since I work in TV, I constantly have studio lights on me, I’m on my computer all day and on social media, so getting outside to nature is a good way to bring me back to center.

So if you find yourself stressed out, I’d suggest getting outdoors. Here’s a quote I LOVE about getting back outside, appreciating God’s creation:

“We depend on nature not only for our physical survival. We also need nature to show us the way home, the way out of the prison of our own minds. We got lost in doing, thinking, remembering, anticipating – lost in a maze of complexity and a world of problems.”
– Eckhart Tolle

So get outside and be present.
