MOTHER’S DAY GIFT IDEAS | 2017

Hey everyone!

Mother’s Day is right around the corner and this is one of my favorite days of the year because we get to celebrate the women in our lives who helped raise us and shape us into the people we are today! They already deserve pampering and on Mother’s Day, they deserve extra pampering.

I decided to share with you some of the gifts that I think would be a great gift to the mother figure in your life ❤️

VALENTINE’S DAY GIFTS FOR HIM

Hey everyone!

With Valentine’s day just around the corner, I thought I would share my perfect Valentine’s Day gift ideas with you! This year, I am celebrating Valentine’s Day without my boyfriend. He currently lives in Georgia and due to conflicting schedules, I wont be able to see him. 🙁 But! I gave some great ideas to send him in the mail, almost like a care package, so no worries! Even if your significant other IS with you this Valentine’s Day, I think these would be great gifting ideas!

Normally, my boyfriend and I like to stay home and enjoy each other’s company. We are always running around and doing things, that we normally like to bundle up at home, watch a movie and enjoy some wine. (This is my favorite wine ever, btw!) We also don’t buy too many gifts for Valentine’s Day but when we do they are more thoughtful gifts than material gifts.

Anyways, if you’re still looking for something for the special guy in your life here are my suggestions! As always, there is a product widget at the bottom of this post for other gift ideas! 🙂

Socks

I feel in love with these socks when I was browsing on Etsy! These would be great for the beer lover in your life, especially if you and your partner have a good sense of humor! Haha. I thought these would be a great gift for lounging around in the house. And they’re only $10!

Catchall

My boyfriend has one and he absolutely loves it! My mom gave to him as a gift a few years ago and it’s the perfect place to toss all of your stuff. I love this one because it’s customizable and I love the color.

Toiletry Bag

Something else my boyfriend has and loves! Every guy needs a toiletry bag, whether they know this or not. This has come in handy so many times on all of our vacations and even for work. I absolutely love the one in the picture in this post (it’s on SALE) and I also love this one!

Skin Care

Men shave… a lot! So why not get your guy an extra special shave cream this Valentine’s? It’s a good way to make him feel extra special 🙂 From the reviews I’ve read online, this is a great product. And if your guy has some extra sensitive skin, I would recommend ‘Dirty’ from Lush Cosmetics or ‘Ambrosia,’ also from Lush! Ambrosia is more for those guys who shave their head.

Does your guy have a beard? I recommend this product!

Candy

My boyfriend has the biggest sweet tooth! These are his favorite gummy bears and every time we exchange gifts, this is one of them. It’s a sweet way to say ‘I love you!’

Even if you don’t have a Valentine, remember this day is about celebrating love! Whether celebrating love with your your significant other, your mom, your dad, a friend or a sibling, remember to show them how much you care! Enjoy your time with them and take time for each other!

HAPPY (early) VALENTINE’S DAY!

HOW TO: STAY ORGANIZED

Hey everyone!

This post is going to be a little bit different than my usual content. Today, I’m going to give you my tips on staying organized!

Now, I’m not the most strictly organized person but I do believe in having things in at least a desired location so I always know where to find it. Sure, sometimes things get cluttered but it’s always manageable! Since I started my last semester of college yesterday, I got in the mood to organize all my syllabi and paperwork for school and thought I’d share some of my tips for organization.

Tip #1: Buy an agenda!

Since I’m enrolled in school, I automatically have one because my life would be a total disaster if I didn’t. My current agenda is this one. I love this brand because of the fun pattern and I get the weekly and monthly view inside. I prefer to see an overview of the month to visually see the amount of days I have until something is due. I also like the ruled lines for each day, giving me lots of space to write all the information I can about an assignment or something really important. There’s even this one! It’s a name brand and its on sale! My other favorite is this one. It’s cheap and so cute on the inside! If you’re not into agendas, make a calendar like this is better for you! There are mermaids on it 🙂 and it’s on sale. I think it’s meant to be!

So maybe pen and pencil aren’t your thing, then go electronic! Along with my agenda, I write down some of the more important things on my iPhone calendar, like a doctor’s appointment. Not only do I schedule for that day, I set two alerts for that block of time: one for an alert the week before, one for two days before. That way I never miss it and it’s just a good reminder.

Tip #2: Start small

Around this time of year, a lot of people are really into starting fresh and cleaning out anything they don’t use. This is a great idea but the best way to avoid being overwhelmed by all the things you’re either throwing out or donating is by making sure to go through it in small bunches. If your goal is to clean out your room, start out with your clothes. Then work your way to shoes, accessories, purses, etc. The best way to not get defeated is not bombard yourself with your things. Work in small batches everyday.

Tip #3: To Do Lists

There is no one that is more of a fan of to do lists than this girl right here. I thrive on to do lists! Yes I have a planner and that is kind of their purpose but it’s not the same! To Do Lists are more than just a planner, they let me jot down ideas as soon as they come to mind while staying on task for the day. I love using a notepad like this at my desk. They’re really inexpensive and fun to look at. You could also just get a regular notebook like this to jot all ideas down while able to take it with you wherever you go! (I linked some different notebooks to choose from at the bottom of this post. Make sure to check it out 🙂 )

Tip #4: Make your bed!

Listen, I’m not judging you if you don’t make your bed. I was one of those people for a long time but I have changed my ways. Haha! I know this seems like a silly tip, but honestly… it’s the best feeling coming home and seeing your bed made. Something I noticed when I finally started making my bed is it encouraged me to keep my room up to par with how crisp my bed looked. Now my room is a real sanctuary. Try it!

Tip #5: Set Time For Yourself

Cliché. I know, I know but it really does wonders. If you’re having an especially overwhelming day, I recommend meditating or doing some yoga. Or anything that doesn’t include your phone or any form of social media. Maybe that’s sitting with your eyes closed for five minutes, or taking really deep breaths to lower your heart rate and keep you at ease. This thing called “life” can really stress you out, but doing little things to make life easier, like picking up after yourself or reorganizing that pajama drawer you always meant to do, can change the way the rest of your day or week or year go. (If you want to start yoga, you can find a yoga mat and some tools here and here. I also recommend checking out Yoga with Adrienne on YouTube. She has a great beginner playlist and guides you through each session. Click her name for her YouTube channel.)

Of course, getting organized is easier said than done. It will take some time getting used to or making a habit out of it but it’s worth it.  When my mom tried to get me to clean and reorganize some things, she would always tell me “You don’t want to come home to messy house, do you? Especially after a long day!” And nothing is more true than that. I love knowing my room and dorm are always clean, and definitely helps taking away some stress.

I hope you found these tips helpful! Hopefully you learned something today and if you didn’t I hope this inspires you to reorganize something! Whether it’s your junk drawer (we all have one) or your thoughts, decluttering is good for the soul 🙂
